Sequence of Change Numbers The sequence algorithm prevents changes being carried out in an incorrect sequence.
The change number is written to an internal table the first time that you use a change number to change a PVS variant. The system uses this table to reproduce the sequence in which changes to PVS variants were made. This is independent of its
valid-from
date and the PVS variant to which the first change with the change number is made. This is necessary because not only the sequence by the
valid-from
date is important, but also the sequence of changes made at the point of use, in repetitive manufacturing, for example. This is why the change numbers in the PVS are evaluated by an algorithm that takes the above-mentioned table with the sequence into consideration and prevents change numbers being used in the wrong sequence due to the
valid-from
date.
