Function documentationShortage Analysis

The shortage analysis provides you with a quick overview of critical situations, such as a shortage of service parts (referred to throughout as products). This enables you to take action to prevent potentially critical situations and to respond immediately to critical situations. Both you (as supply chain analyst) and your supplier can access this information.

The shortage analysis comprises the following applications:

  • Shortage Overview

  • Supplier Overview

  • Shortage Monitor

  • SPP Cockpit

  • Product Detail

  • Analyst Note

  • Alert Monitor

  • Alert Summary

Integration

This function in Service Parts Planning (SPP) is integrated into the Web user interface in SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC).

Prerequisites

  • You have set up an analyst, (see Assigning Planners in Service Parts Planning).

  • You have created an SAP SNC Internet user for the supplier and have assigned this Internet user to a business partner in SAP SNC. You have specified which product detail tab pages the supplier may see. To do this, on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Start of the navigation path Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Service Parts Planning (SPP) Next navigation step Reporting / Monitoring Next navigation step Hide Tab Pages for Product Detail (Partner). End of the navigation path

    1. You branch to the Shortage Analysis application.

This application offers you an initial aggregated overview of critical and potentially critical products. The system only considers location products with planners who are assigned to your user. If the user is a supplier, the system only displays information on location products with a valid external procurement relationship with this supplier.

    2. If you identify any risks in this overview, you can perform more detailed evaluations in other applications. You can for instance access the Supplier Overview application to analyze distribution of critical and non-critical products between your suppliers. The system only considers suppliers who are assigned to your user and have an external procurement relationship with the location products described in point 2.

    3. To analyze data on a supplier in more detail, you can select a supplier in the Supplier Overview and then switch to the Shortage Monitor. The system displays data for the selected supplier automatically in the Shortage Monitor.

    4. The Shortage Monitor gives you the option of switching to the SPP Cockpit, Product Detail, Analyst Note, Alert Monitor and Advanced Shipping Notification applications, where you can perform additional detailed analyses of specific location products. In this case, the system also transfers the data selected.
