Adjusting the Windows Performance Settings 
For better system performance and memory usage, you need to adjust the system settings as described below.
Choose .
In the Local Area Connection Status dialog box, choose Properties.
In the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box, double-click File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks.
Select Maximize data throughput for network applications.
Caution
If you cannot select File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, this option has not yet been installed. To install it, you need the Windows Server CDs.
To confirm your entries, choose OK.
Choose .
In the System Properties screen, choose Advanced.
Under Performance, choose Settings.
Choose the Advanced tab.
For Processor scheduling: Adjust for best performance of, select Background services.
For Memory usage: Adjust for best performance of, select Programs.
If required, adjust the Virtual memory (paging file size).

Confirm your entries with OK.
Choose .
In the System Properties screen, choose the Advanced tab.
For Performance, choose Settings....
In the Performance Options window, choose the Advanced tab.
For Processor scheduling: Adjust for best performance of, select Background services.
If required, change the Virtual memory (paging file size):
Choose Change and for Custom size set the Initial size and Maximum size to the relevant value.
