Service Loss Analysis
Service loss analysis automatically determines reasons why you could not deliver quantities that the service fill monitor classified as service losses on time.
You have made the following settings for service loss analysis:
In Customizing for SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) you have set which service loss reasons you want the system to check and in which sequence the checks should take place.
For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for SAP SCM under .
You have created a planning profile for the Planning Service Manager (PSM) that contains the PSM service SPP: Service Loss Analysis
(SPP_SRVLOSS).
To create a planning profile, you proceed as follows:
Create the process profile ZPR_SL with the following values:
Package creation methods: SO_LOCATIONPRODUCT_PROD_INC (sales orders)
Maximum package size: 100
Create the selection ZPS_SRVLOSS with the selection type Location
.
Select all locations for which you want to execute service loss analysis.
Create the planning profile ZPR_SRVLOSS with the following values:
Selection profile (of the process block): ZPS_SRVLOSS
Process profile: ZPR_SL
Planning version: 000
The service list only contains the planning service SPP_SRVLOSS. A service profile is not necessary.
For more information, see Use of the Planning Service Manager for Service Parts Planning.
The service loss analysis determines the service loss reason for sales order schedule lines that the Service Fill Monitor assigned to the service fill categories Default
or Redirected
, and for which the whole quantity was not delivered during the delay period T0.
The service loss analysis takes into account the selection according to the first stock-holding location in the customer-requested item However, the service loss analysis only takes into account the sales order items whose last possible goods issue date lies between the last planning run and the current date.
Recommendation
Since the last planning run serves as the selection criteria for the current planning run, we recommend that you either do not work with multiple selections or specify a big enough time buffer in Customizing. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Advanced Planning and Optimization
under .
If the customer-requested product is replaced by successor products, service loss analysis does not only determine service loss reasons for the service loss quantity of the customer-requested product, but also for the service loss quantity of the successor product. For more information, see Service Loss Analysis for Substitute Products.
Service loss reasons can have quantity limits. The quantity limit specifies the maximum quantity that the system can assign to this service loss reason. One service loss reason with a quantity limit is Overdue Orders and Schedule Lines, for example, since the system can attribute only delayed quantity of a product to the service loss reason. One service loss reason without a limit quantity is Demand Exceeds Forecast, for example, since there is no quantity limit on the quantity by which the demand can exceed the forecast.
Service loss reasons are grouped into service loss categories. For an overview of all service loss reason and the service loss categories to which they belong, see Service Loss Reasons and Service Loss Categories.
For each service loss reason, you can perform detailed analyses to determine subordinate service loss reasons. For more information, see Subordinate Service Loss Reasons.
The system takes leads times of the bill of distribution into account when determining the service loss reason. If, for example, the system determines which changes to the purchase orders and scheduling agreement releases are relevant for the service loss reason "changes to scheduling agreement release and purchase order", it must determine the lead time for the whole BOD (that is, from the entry location to the first stockholding location).
Service loss analysis determines the service loss reasons at the time when the PSM service for service loss analysis is executed. For the evaluation, the system extracts the results of service loss analysis (service loss reasons and detailed information such as subordinate service loss reasons) into the attached SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (BI system).
Service loss analysis only delivers valid information is it occurs close in time to the service fill monitor evaluation (within 24 hours for example).
