Use of the Planning Service Manager for SPP
The Planning Service Manager (PSM) is used for planning in the background.
You can schedule the planning services, which you need for a business process, in a planning profile in the PSM. The PSM then runs this planning profile in the background regularly, according to your settings.

You can schedule planning services for the following SPP functions in the PSM:

To schedule the required services in the PSM, you proceed as follows:
You define a selection in Customizing for SCM Basis
under . In a selection you can specify, for example, which products and location products are to be planned.
You define a process profile in Customizing for SCM Basis
under . A process profile includes a method for package creation and the maximum number of planning objects that a package can contain.
You define a service profile for each of the services that you want to schedule in the PSM. You define service profiles in Customizing for the respective service.
Note
Not every service contains a service profile. You define service profiles only if the corresponding service contains a service profile.
You define a planning profile in Customizing for SCM Basis
under . A planning profile comprises the following components:
Header Data
In the header data, you specify the name of the planning profile.
Process Block
In the process block, you specify which of the defined selections and which of the defined process profiles you want to use in this planning profile.
Service List
In the service list, you specify in which version which services should be executed with which PSM service profile and in which sequence.

You can also configure the settings above in the SAP Easy Access
menu for Advanced Planning and Optimization
. To do so, access the SAP Easy Access
menu and choose .
You can define your own planning services in Customizing under Configure Planning Service Manager.

You can display planning profiles on the Display Planning Profile screen. Not only can you call them directly, you can also find and display them according to specific selection criteria such as selection, packaging method, and service.
You can execute a specific planning profile on the Execute Planning Service Manager
screen either directly or in the background. To do so, you specify the required planning profile and choose either Execute
or . You can access the Execute Planning Service Manager
screen from the SAP Easy Access
menu by choosing .
You can display the results of a PSM planning run using the Display PSM Application Log
transaction. To access the transaction from the SAP Easy Access
menu, choose . On the Display PSM Application Logs
screen, enter the required subobjects of a service, optionally define additional selection criteria to restrict the number of messages displayed, and then choose Execute
. The messages answering your selection criteria are displayed on the Display logs
screen, together with contextual information captured by the application log.
You can use the Only Selected Messages
checkbox on the Display PSM Application Logs
screen to specify whether you want to display only the messages matching the additional selection criteria or all the logs that contain messages matching the additional selection criteria.
