Function documentationAlert Monitor

The Alert Monitor is a component of the shortage analysis. It displays alerts that Service Parts Planning (SPP) has generated. An alert indicates an unplanned and critical situation that necessitates the intervention of the supplier or analyst. The supplier and analyst use the Alert Monitor to display alerts that are relevant to them. Detailed alert data, context information, and options for navigation to the affected applications support the supplier and the analyst when analyzing and removing the cause of the alerts.

Alert statuses provide information about the processing progress. To control the response options of the partners and the status sequence, the Alert Monitor supports alert-type-specific processing workflows. These specify which partner must respond to an alert with a specific status, which processing options are available, and what the resulting status is.

Alerts are included in the supplier delivery performance rating (SDPR). In the Alert Monitor, however, the analyst can remove alerts from SDPR. This function is relevant to the analyst, for instance, if a supplier does not agree with an alert.

Example Example

In the standard system, the alert type 7811 (Timeliness [ASN]) is set so that a new alert has the New status. If the supplier agrees with the alert, the supplier can confirm the alert and thus set the Completed status for the alert. The supplier thus indicates to the analyst that he or she has acknowledged the alert and is dealing with the removal of the cause of the alert. If the supplier does not agree with the alert, he or she rejects it. The analyst must now decide whether he or she accepts the rejection and removes the alert from the SDPR.

End of the example.

Features

Components of the Alert Monitor

The Web user interface of the Alert Monitor contains the following components:

  • Alert tab pages

Each alert tab page contains alerts of a specific category. The Inbound Monitor tab page contains, for instance, alerts that the inbound delivery monitor has generated. Alerts for exceptions in distribution requirements planning (DRP) are on the DRP tab page.

  • Statistical view

The statistical view contains alert statistics. The alert statistics display how many alerts are currently available for each alert priority and for each status. You can break down the numbers of alerts according to two different grouping criteria. The grouping criteria include location, product, alert type (ID or description), and alert category. You can display, for example, the number of alerts for each alert category or for each location product. Along with the grouping criteria, you can also select a criterion for which you want the system to display the alerts in the statistical view. If you select the Product criterion, for example, the system adds an additional column to the table for every product for which the select alerts exist, and you can see the alerts for each product in this column.

    Note Note

The system updates the statistical view when an alert is confirmed or deleted and if an alert parameter is changed.

    End of the note.
Alert Notification

To find out about new alerts or alerts with a modified status, you, as analyst or as supplier, do not have to call the Alert Monitor regularly. In the Alert Monitor, you can set specifically to the user that the system notifies you automatically by e-mail, SMS, or fax about alerts. For more information, see Alert Notification.
