SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS8 includes the following enhancements to support federated portal networks:

Feature

Documentation for Detailed Information

A system administrator on a consumer portal can now configure the portal using the KM search feature to include other registered producer portals in its search queries.

Note that if the consumer portal is not configured as described, the search will query only the local portal.

Configuring a Search in a Federated Portal (for administrators)

Search in a Network of Portals (for portal users)

When a content administrator on a consumer portal copies content from a producer portal using the Copy Paste as Local Content action in the Portal Catalog, a wizard is now launched. In the wizard, choose Create a copy to generate local copies of the remote content.

Note

Do not use the Create a delta link option in the wizard. This feature is not currently supported.

Copying Remote Content to Your Consumer

A mandatory Your Consumer URL field has been added to the Producer Registration tool. It is intended for system administrators on a consumer portal during the registration phase with a producer portal.

This parameter is required by the producer portal to be able to channel information back to a consumer portal in order to fulfill a runtime request. Such information is intended to eliminate problems that may arise as a result of the wide range and complexities of system networks, such as reverse proxies.

Registering and Unregistering Your Consumer Portal

A producer portal no longer needs to configure a local WSDL file before SAP or non-SAP consumer portal can register with it.

The WSDL file has been replaced by a portal component (com.sap.portal.wsrp.coreproducer.WsdlGenerator) on the producer portal. When a consumer portal registers with a producer portal, the component automatically generates the necessary WDSL information and sends it to the consumer. The WSDL generator supports both HTTP and HTTPS protocols, and also reverse proxy configurations.

Note

Do not use the Path to WSDL Definition File and Full URL to WSDL Definition File fields in the Add a Producer Wizard and Producer Editor (NetWeaver producer portals only). These fields are no longer functional and will be removed in an upcoming release.
