 Creating Characteristics and Classes in SAP APO

Use

You can create characteristics for characteristics-based forecasting in SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO) or you can use the characteristics from an ERP system.

Prerequisites

In Customizing for SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO), you have configured the classification system for characteristics for variant configuration. Procedure

You first create a class to contain the characteristics.

  1. On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Classification System Next navigation step Classes. End of the navigation path

  2. Maintain the initial data and the basic data.

  3. Choose the Char. tab page.

    You now assign existing characteristics to the class, or you create new characteristics.

Creating New Characteristics
  1. Enter a name for the new characteristic in the table.

  2. Choose Enter .

    A dialog box appears asking you whether you want to create the characteristic. Choose Yes .

  3. Maintain the characteristic.

    You cannot use multi-value characteristics in CBF.

  4. Choose to save the characteristic and return to maintenance of the class.

Assigning Existing Characteristics
  1. In the table, choose an existing characteristic.

  2. When you have finished editing the class and characteristics, save your data.
