Consensus finding is a process in which several business partners, for example, try to agree on quantities, dates, times, and prices. Consensus finding allows you to compare data from various sources and accept deviations within defined tolerance limits (deviation analysis). From the original data, you can also determine new data that, within tolerance limits, is acceptable to all business partners involved (consensus determination).

Integration

In SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC), consensus finding is available as a preconfigured component of the following applications.

Collaborative Sales Forecasting

In collaborative sales forecasting, suppliers and customers can compare data for promotion forecasts and baseline sales forecasts. Collaborative sales forecasting uses consensus finding to calculate and display absolute and percentage differences between supplier data and customer data. Consensus finding also lets you calculate the consensus baseline sales forecast, a proposal that represents a compromise between the supplier and customer data. For more information, see Collaborative Sales Forecasting.

Order Forecast Monitor

The order forecast monitor uses consensus finding to calculate and display differences between the following key figures:

  • Planned receipts and planned demands

  • Firm receipts and firm demands

For more information, see Order Forecast Monitor.

Purchase Order Collaboration and Replenishment Order Collaboration

Purchase order collaboration and replenishment order collaboration use the deviation analysis to compare the confirmed data created by the supplier with request data. The deviation analysis is relevant for the following functions:

  • Approval process

The approval process is relevant for purchase orders and replenishment orders. The approval process uses the deviation analysis to compare the Confirmed schedule lines with request schedule lines. The approval process approves Confirmed schedule lines if the confirmation data corresponds to the request data within the given quantity and time tolerances. In case of deviations larger than the tolerances, the approval process rejects the Confirmed schedule lines. For more information, see the following sections:

  • Price confirmation

Price confirmation is relevant for purchase orders. Price confirmation uses the deviation analyses to compare the confirmed price with the original price or the requested price. If the confirmed price is acceptable, deviations being within the tolerances, SAP SNC copies the confirmed price to the requested price. For more information, see Price Confirmation.

Work Order Collaboration

Work order collaboration uses the deviation analysis to compare the following data:

  • Request data from the customer and confirmation data from the supplier

  • Current data and planned data

  • Projected data and planned data

For more information, see Deviation Analysis for Work Orders.

Prerequisites

If you want to use consensus finding for an SAP SNC application, first check if settings are required for this in Customizing. You can find settings required for the applications listed above in the following sections:

If you want to set up consensus finding for an SAP SNC application for the first time, or override existing standard settings, use Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration, under   Basic Settings   Consensus Finding  .
