Use this window to add, update and view the bin locations.
To access the window, from the SAP Business One Main Menu, choose
.From a choose from list of warehouses, select a warehouse where the bin is located. The bin location code comprises the warehouse code, the sublevel codes, and the bin location code separator you defined. |
From a choose from list of warehouse sublevel codes, select the sublevel codes that represent the physical location of the bin. The bin location code comprises the warehouse code, the sublevel codes, and the bin location code separator you defined. Note Only the sublevels you have activated are available. By default, SAP Business One activates sublevel 1 for you. To activate other warehouse sublevels, go to Bin Location Field Activation Window. End of the note. |
Displays the code of the bin location. The bin location code comprises the warehouse code, the sublevel codes, and the bin location code separator you specified. |
Choose this button to open the Bin Location Code Modification window, where you can modify bin location codes in batches. |
Choose this button to open the Bin Location Management window, where you can generate, update, and delete bin locations in batches. |
Deactivates the bin location. Once a bin location is inactive, you cannot use the bin location for any purposes until you activate it again. Note You can deactivate the bin location only if there is no inventory of any item in the bin location. End of the note. |
Select the checkbox to indicate the bin location is a receiving bin location. A receiving bin location is within a special section in a warehouse which typically represents a receiving inspection area for temporary storage of incoming goods. After the inspection is completed, the goods are then placed in storage bin locations. Once you enable receiving bin locations for a warehouse and designate a bin location in the warehouse as a receiving bin location, this bin location is used automatically to store the items received externally from your vendors or customers. |
If required, enter a description of the bin location. |
Displays the total quantity of items in the bin location. To view the details of the items, open the bin location content list by clicking (Link Arrow) to the left of the quantity. |
Displays how many kinds of items are stored in the bin location. |
Displays how many serials and batches are stored in the bin location. To view the details of the serials and batches, open the bin location content list by clicking (Link Arrow) to the left of the number. |
If required, enter an alternative sort code for the bin location. The code can be alphabetic letters, numbers, symbols, or a combination of all. You can enter up to 50 characters. During the inventory issue, the system can use the code as a criteria to decide from which bin locations items are allocated. Note SAP Business One automatically applies upper case to any alphabetic letters you enter. End of the note. |
If required, enter a bar code for the bin location. The code can be alphabetic letters, numbers, symbols, or a combination of all. You can enter up to 100 characters. |
Enter the minimum quantity of items for the bin location. When the inventory level in a bin location falls below the minimum quantity, you can replenish the bin location to the maximum quantity using either of the following two reports:
Note The minimum quantity does not have any effect on the issues of inventory from the bin location. That is, SAP Business One does not block the issuing of items even if it is causing the inventory in the bin location to fall below the minimum quantity. End of the note. |
Enter the maximum quantity of items for the bin location. When the inventory level of a bin location falls below the minimum quantity, you can replenish the bin location to the maximum quantity using either of the following two reports:
Note The maximum quantity does not have any effect on the receipts of inventory to the bin location. That is, SAP Business One does not block the receiving of items even if it is causing the inventory in the bin location to exceed the maximum. End of the note. |

Displays the last date on which you updated the transaction restrictions of the bin location. The date is shown or updated only after you have chosen the Add or Update pushbutton in the window. |
Enter a reason for the transaction restrictions of the bin location. Note When there is a transaction restriction, you must specify the reason. If you have selected None in the Transaction Restrictions field, you cannot enter a reason here. End of the note. |
Note The fields are available only if you have activated the bin location attributes. To do so, go to Bin Location Field Activation Window. End of the note. From the lists of existing attribute codes, select the codes that are relevant to the bin location. To add a new attribute code, enter the code in the corresponding attribute field and press Ctrl + Tab on your keyboard. |
