Procedure

A target group is a list of prospects. You can create a target group and then define a promotional campaign targeting this group. You can add prospects either from existing customers and leads, or from an external Microsoft Excel file.

Note Note

To use the Target Group window, you require correct authorization for the window.

System administrators can assign Full Authorization, Read Only authorization, and No Authorization of this window to users.

To assign to users the authorization for the Target Group window, from the SAP Business One Main Menu, choose   Administration   System Initialization   Authorizations   General Authorizations  . In the General Authorizations window, choose   Administration   Setup   Business Partners   Target Group  .

To create a target group, proceed as follows:

  1. From the SAP Business One Main Menu, choose   Administration   Set Up   Business Partners   Target Group  .

  2. In the Target Group – Set Up window, specify the Target Group Code and the Target Group Name for the new group and choose Update.

  3. In the # column, double-click the gray sequence number area corresponding to the target group you created in step 2.

    The Target Group Details window appears.

    To use this window to define potential customers or leads for the target group, do one of the following:

    • Add Prospects from BP Master Data

      In the Target Group Details window, add a business partner by specifying either the BP Code or the BP Name.

      To add a group of business partners, choose Selection Criteria. In the Business Partners window, filter business partners by their codes, groups, and properties.

    • Add Prospects from External Lists

      To add prospects from external lists, do one of the following:

      All the prospects that do not exist in the Business Partner Master Data are marked as External business partners.

      To add multiple contacts for one external business partner, add multiple entries for this business partner with different contact information.

      • In the Target Group window, manually enter the business partner's information.

      • Import prospects from a Microsoft Excel file.

        To do so, proceed as follows:

        1. Prepare the list for importing. For more information, see Importing a Microsoft Excel File and Preparing a Microsoft Excel Import File for Business Partners.

        2. In the Target Group Details window, choose Import.

          The Import from Excel window appears.

        3. Each field in the Import from Excel window represents a column in the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to be imported. For each field, select the corresponding field definition in accordance with the column definition from the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

        4. Choose OK to save the data and open the file manager.

        5. Select the file to be imported and choose Open.

          You receive a message that the file is imported successfully.
