Screen Element

Description

Prompt Sequence

Allows you to determine when to display the profile prompt.

You can set the prompt sequence by selecting one of the following options:

  • Display profile after each item entry

  • Display profile after function is completed

  • Display profile after printing finished

  • Display profile at Total

  • Display profile before tendering

  • Display profile during function

  • Display profile when a function is triggered

  • None

Cycle on Prompt

Allows you to enter the line number from the Prompt Lines tab to which the system should return at the end of the prompting sequence to define prompts that ask for repeating information until the cashier presses the Total key

Review Profile

Allows you to determine if the cashier can review the response to a profile prompt after it is entered into the system

Disallow Multi-Prompt

Allows you to force the system to display a prompt only once if the profile prompt is attached to several functions within the transaction

Allow Exit On Clear

Allows you to control the cashier’s ability to back out of the Profile Prompt by using the Clear key. By using an appropriately configured Profile Prompt for a given Manager Code, you can control whether or not the Manager Code can be aborted at the point of entering the data.

Note Note

This configuration option replaces the ALLOWPROFILEABORT setting in the POS.INI, which is no longer supported. If you previously used ALLOWPROFILEABORT, you must re-configure the Profile Prompts to get the same behavior as you did previously.

End of the note.

If you want to give the cashier the ability to cancel a User-Defined Transaction (UDT) by escaping out of a Profile Prompt (which is associated with the Manager Code used to start the UDT) without leaving the POS in a transaction, the UDT must be configured as a Start of Sale type of UDT. If the UDT is configured to be During Sale, then a transaction has already been started by the time the Profile Prompt is displayed.

This setting works in conjunction with the Clear setting on individual Prompt Lines as follows:

  • If Allow Exit On Clear is checked, then the cashier can press the Clear key on any prompt line that has the Clear option enabled to cancel the Profile Prompt. It is a combination of Allow Exit On Clear and the Clear option on individual prompt lines that controls the ability to escape from a Profile Prompt.

  • A cashier can use the Clear key from the first prompt line of any Profile Prompt regardless of whether or not the Allow Exit On Clear option is checked. If you want to prevent the cashier from cancelling the Profile Prompt while on the first prompt line, then you must deselect Allow Exit On Clear and Clear on, at least, the first prompt line.

  • For backwards compatibility purposes, there are some cases where the cashier cannot escape from the Profile Prompt regardless of whether or not Allow Exit On Clear is checked. This applies when customer information is required to perform a Return transaction.

Hash Count

Validate Amount on Prompt

Checks the prompt line entered (1–15) when attached to a non-merchandise item. The non-merchandise sale amount is then replaced by the profile prompt amount.

Check Total Due

Allows you to choose to display the profile prompt based on the total amount due. You set when to display the profile prompt by selecting one of the following options:

  • Always Display

  • Display if Total Due equals Zero

  • Display if Total Due is greater than Zero

  • Display if Total Due is greater than or equal to Zero

  • Display if Total Due is less than or equal to Zero

  • Display if Total Due is less than Zero

  • Display if Total Due is not Zero

Prompt Display Timeout (seconds)

Times out the prompt display after a specified amount of time if no entry is made. This is used when the prompt sequence is set to Display Profile after Printing Finished.
