Procedure documentationSetting Up Bottle Deposit Fees as Non-Merchandise

Procedure

The following procedure describes how to link a bottled product PLU to a deposit fee set up in the non-merchandise configuration. This is suitable in environments with one, or very few, bottle deposit fee values.

Create the Bottle Deposit Non-Merchandise Record
  1. In Non-merchandise configuration, create a new record for a bottle deposit fee by typing the next sequential number from the Non-merchandise Search screen in the Non-merchandise ID field.

  2. Type Bottle Deposit or a similar heading in the Description field.

  3. In the Quick Menu drop-down list on the General tab page, select Nonmer.

  4. Type BOT DEP or a similar heading in the Keyboard Description field.

  5. Some default values may already be set. In addition, ensure that the following settings are enabled for the bottle deposit:

    • Force Preset Amount

    • Positive Amount

    • Add to Gross

    • Allow Quantity

    • Allow in Merchandise

    • Allow Suspend

    • Allow Item Void

    • Non Income

  6. Type a value in the Preset Amount field to define the bottle deposit fee amount.

  7. Select 1 in the Preset Price Denominator drop-down list. Depending on the value you enter here, you may set a price containing a fraction of a penny.

  8. On the Data Capture tab page, do the following:

    • Type Bottle Deposit or a similar heading in the Prompt Description field.

    • Enable the Is Bottle Deposit option in the Bottle section.

  9. Save the record.

Set the Bottled Product PLU to Link to the Deposit Record
  1. In PLU File configuration, locate the PLU record for the product to which bottle deposit fee applies in the PLU Search screen and open it.

  2. In the Link Non-merchandise ID drop-down list, choose the Bottle Deposit ID.

  3. In the Link Non-merchandise Sell Quantity field, enter the number of bottle deposits that may apply per PLU item.

  4. Save the settings.
