The Inventory Accumulator/Bucket Definition feature allows you to set up buckets to track inventory levels that are increased or decreased by transactions with an impact on inventory.

 

Inventory Accumulators

To set the inventory tracking feature for a specific item, you need to configure inventory accumulators (also called buckets) in the item PLU record. You can define a maximum of six accumulators per item.

You can use any of the following methods to set inventory tracking:

  • By choosing the inventory control option on for the PLU record in the Store Manager application.

  • By using Download File Formats to set inventory control for specific items (bucket.asc, invncont.asc or plutxn.asc)

  • By using Download File Formats to set inventory control for a cross reference record (xreftxn.asc)

Example Example

You can define accumulator buckets for inventory categories such as the following:

Quantity Available— The quantity of a merchandise item that is available for sale

Quantity Allocated— The quantity of a merchandise item that has been committed to an order

Not for Sale— The quantity of a merchandise item that is not sales worthy (For example. broken or damaged goods)

Quantity in Stock— The total physical quantity of an item including sales worthy and damaged items

Bucket ID

Identifies the bucket definition

Description

Description of the bucket

Short Description

Abbreviated description of the bucket

Is Accumulative

Indicates that a physical inventory can be maintained for this bucket

Keep History

Indicates that a history is required for this bucket

Historical information may include minimum, maximum and closing balances for the bucket for each period. If this parameter is not enabled, no history is maintained for this bucket.

Total Bucket ID

This property is used with Regular buckets only.

Provides the bucket ID to which this bucket belongs. A value of 1 indicates that the bucket contributes to the calculation of the In Stock total bucket.

POS Position

A numeric value that indicates this bucket's position in a price inquiry

Bucket Counted?

This property is used with Regular buckets only.

Indicates the Count property of the bucket.

  • Yes — Indicates that the contents of the bucket can be counted. (The bucket is physically distinct from all the other buckets.)

  • No but Adjustable — Indicates that although the bucket cannot be counted and its quantity cannot be set, some products may be added to or taken from it.

  • No & Not Adjustable — Indicates that the bucket cannot be counted or adjusted. This type of bucket can only be maintained through transactions.
