With this release, new logging .ini configuration PARM files replace logging parameters that were previously pos/local .ini configuration settings, and registry settings. Features of the logger include configuration settings to control the log file name, location, maximum log file size, number of log files to maintain, and whether the file is archived to the upload directory for Head Office polling. Logging is controlled by a set of well-known features, and each feature can have it’s own log level.

Effects on Data Transfer

The configuration files are located in the PARM directory, and are handled in the same manner as other POS configuration files (for example, automatically copied and loaded from the XPS server as updates to the files are made).

Effects on Configuration

Logging is configured in a .ini file, with a separate configuration file for each application (posLog.ini and xpsLog.ini). The configuration file consists of two sections, one section to configure log file attributes (FileHandler), and the other to configure logging features (Logger)
