The languages Italian and Russian are now supported, including:

  • Support for country-specific versions of Microsoft (MS) Windows. For Russian this includes the use of a distinct code page to support Cyrillic characters.

  • Provision of language-specific sets and keyboards for store-based languages

  • The capability to change the language after installation and to make it user-specific (this applies to Italian only)

  • Transaction-based language settings, which for any languages other than Russian, allow the language of the UI to be changed to meet the needs of the employee or the customer

    Note Note

    The system does not support switching from any non-English language to Russian, or from Russian to any non-English language if that language does not share the same code page as Russian.

  • Use of SAP standard translation tools to translate texts in the system literal files, including hard coded elements that are moved to the literal file.

  • Extended field lengths to accommodate the requirements of the supported languages.

  • Distinct production databases for each code page: Cyrillic 1251 (Russian) and Latin 1252 (Italian). The databases which support the Cyrillic code page are maintained for both Sybase 9 (Configurator) and MS SQL database management systems.
