You can configure a bar code to trigger a lookup in a return transaction to speed up the return process.
When the bar code on the original purchase receipt is scanned in a return transaction, the POS application can automatically look up the original transaction details in the database. This eliminates the need for the cashier to manually enter the information however the lookup can still be initiated manually, if required. When the transaction information is found, the details are displayed on the POS screen and the cashier can select the item or items being returned to complete the return. If any required information is missing in the bar code, a prompt appears and the cashier can enter the information manually.
To configure the bar code to initiate a return lookup for a return transaction you will need to complete the following:
Define a new bar code for a Return Lookup
Attach the Return Lookup Bar Code to a regular sale transaction. This ensures that the bar code is printed on each regular sale receipt.
Create a new Profile Prompt to capture required information for the return transaction
Attach the Profile Prompt to the Return Manager Code
