Component documentationPrice Look Ups

You can use one or more of the following search criteria to identify products in the store:

  • Price look up (PLU) numbers

  • Stock keeping units (SKUs)

  • Bar codes

  • Item numbers

  • Product numbers.

In addition, you can search for a retail product description using single or multiple wild card search terms in the PLU description search tool. The default wild card search character is an asterisk (*). When you enter part of the product description along with an asterisk, the system returns all articles that match the search criteria. The wildcard character matches any sequence of characters in the item description. You can then use the Up and Down keys to view and select a product from the display list.

Note Note

You cannot search for items whose descriptions themselves contain the wildcard search character. For example, if an item description itself contains an asterisk, then an asterisk included in the search string matches any character in the description, not just the asterisk.

End of the note.

About price look ups

Your head office must define how PLUs are configured before you can add PLUs to the PLU table in the Store Manager. Your head office can also perform most PLU management functions and download the files to your store. You can modify and delete PLU records sent from your head office, along with those you define using Store Manager.

After you have defined PLUs, you can link them together into packages, create promotional pricing and mix match pricing schemes, and create short, easy to remember cross reference numbers, as described in Pricing.

Note Note

Before you create any PLU records, you must define the product hierarchy of categories, groups, and departments. For information, see Product Hierarchy.
