The SAP POS interface in SAP Enterprise Resource Planning for Retail (ERP for Retail) and SAP POS Data Management (POS DM) allows distributed retailing in retail stores. This allows store POS systems to be linked to central systems. During the inbound process, sales data is uploaded by the system from POS DM to either SAP Business Warehouse (BW) for reporting, or to SAP ERP for Retail for subsequent processing. Functionality related to merchandise that is not processed through POS DM is posted directly to the ERP for Retail inbound interface, for example physical inventory count lists. The outbound interface supplies in-store POS systems with current data at regular intervals. This data is downloaded from ERP to POS solutions.
In this release, to enable data transfer from SAP ERP to SAP POS, field lengths have been enhanced and extended to allow customers to transfer all of their data. These fields need to store and transmit alphanumeric values. The goal is to receive values as they are needed, or the customer is forced to go into the value mapping in SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure (XI) to maintain promotions and bonus buys on a regular basis (as part of each customer implementation).
As of SAP POS 2.3, these fields accept the following alphanumeric values:
Mixmatch ID
with 12 digits
Promotion Number
with 10 digits
Inclusion/Exclusion ID
with 13 digits
