The Sign On tab page lets you set options such as the POS requirements for, and response to, a register opening for the day and a cashier’s logon. Customize any of the following options to configure logon parameters for the register.

Structure

Salesperson Sign-On

Screen Element

Description

Sign-On Password

Requires the salesperson to type their password when logging on.

Auto Open Terminal

Displays the Open Terminal Yes/No prompt automatically when a cashier logs on to a closed terminal. The cashier must select the Open Terminal function from the keyboard or menu if this option is not selected.

Sign-Off Timeout (Min.)

Sets the number of minutes that a terminal remains inactive before automatically logging off a cashier.

Verify Salesperson

Verifies the salesperson number against the employee file during logon and when the salesperson is entered.

Lock Override Level

Defines the authority level that is required to unlock a POS terminal.

Prompt for Reason Code

To require the cashier to provide a reason code if the variance between the current business date and the previous business date is greater than a defined number of days.

If Last Business Date is More Than

The number of days after which the Reason Code prompt should appear in the If Business Date is More Than field. Select a choice list from the list from which the cashier should select a reason for the business date discrepancy.

Sign-On Bar Code

Allows cashiers to logon to the POS by scanning a bar code that contains their employee number and password. This option provides a list of all defined bar codes.

Multi-Terminal Cashier

Allows a cashier to be logged on to more than one POS terminal at the same time.

Allow Zero Salesperson

Activate if a salesperson number does not need to be entered. Leave this parameter blank if a salesperson number must be entered.

Note Note

Allow Zero Salesperson allows the POS to behave like the Sign-On Options is set to Standard Cashier Sign-On. If Sign-On Options is set to Standard Cashier Sign-On, and both Verify Salesperson and Allow Zero Salesperson are not checked, the salesperson number is 0. For more information, see Sign-on Options Logic in the table below.

End of the note.

Open Drawer at Sign-On

Opens the cash drawer automatically at the start of a day.

Sign-On Options

Consists of a list of logon options.

  • Standard Cashier Sign-On

  • Prompt for Salesperson No.

  • Salesperson will default to Cashier No.

You must choose Prompt for Salesperson No. or Salesperson will default to Cashier No. if using the Store Manager salesperson reporting.

Sign-On Keyboard Input Disabled

When you activate this option, you can disable logon using the keys on a keyboard and force employees to logon by scanning a bar code on their badges or other form of identification.

Secure Mode

Logs the salesperson off and returns to the Logon Screen at the end of the transaction, requiring a second higher authority logon.

Assign Cashier to Drawer

Determines which cash drawer a cashier is assigned to when they logon, if a POS terminal has more than one cash drawer. The options are:

  • None: no cash drawer assignments

  • Manual: the POS Client prompts for cash drawer assignments

  • Automatic: automatically determines a cash drawer assignment for a cashier logging on to the register.

Auto Sign-Off Locks

Locks the POS terminal when the logoff timeout threshold time has expired. There must be a value in the Sign-Off Timeout field for this feature to be enabled.

Days, Choice List ID

A choice list from which the cashier selects a reason for the business date discrepancy.

Lock Out During Transaction Timeout (Min)

Specifies the duration of inactivity at the POS (in minutes) before a lock out window is displayed and the user is locked out. The minimum setting is 1 minute; the maximum is 999. A value of zero does not activate this feature.

In the event that the cashier who was signed on to the register at the time of the lock out is unavailable to sign back on, any user with supervisory authority can sign on to the register and resume or cancel the transaction. This is configured through theSupervisor Functions option in Register Parameters: Min/Max Digits configuration.

Multiple Cash Boxes Per Cash Drawer

Allows the POS Client to support up to a maximum of four cash boxes per cash drawer. When configured to automatically assign a cash drawer, the POS Client determines the next available cash box found in a) cash drawer one (if only one cash drawer is configured), or b) one of the two cash drawers (if two cash drawers are configured).

The POS Client is configured to use cash drawers using Manager Code 2 which allows you to select the hardware device that the POS Client interfaces with.
