With this release, you can monitor your business processes and troubleshoot system problems from a single centralized location (head office). SAP POS provides the tools and procedures to support Business Process Monitoring (BPM), allowing you to identify the cause of system problems and take immediate action where necessary. You can monitor the following business processes:
TLog Trickling
CEFT Server Throughput
Master Data Import
End of Day Procedure
Business Process Monitoring provides the following generic monitoring capabilities:
Business Process & Interface Monitoring
Identifies process interruptions and provides a fast resolution process
Data Consistency Checks
Ensures data consistency through the data consistency cockpit
Automation Management
Schedules background jobs with the SAP Solution Manager Process Scheduling Adaptor
Data Volume Management
Works with Data Volume Reporting to control data growth and avoid unnecessary overhead
In addition, the following options are available:
Data Collection via External Database Access
This option allows you to extract information from the head office system databases (Configurator, Transnet) only.
File Monitoring using CCMS Agent or Business Process Management Data Collector
This option allows you to monitor files on the file system and extract information (based on predefined patterns) from these files. You must have installed the CCMS agent application to use this option.
Alerting using CCMS Alert Infrastructure Interface XMW.
This option creates XML files of predefined log files and feeds them to the Business Process Management (BPM) system.
Where possible, avoid carrying out monitoring activities on the store server. Installing the BPM software on the store server increases the store overhead. The monitoring information should be collected on the head office server and be made available to the CCMS agent or BPM data collector.
You can use the SAP Centralized File Transfer Server (NFM) to transfer and consolidate the log files from each store at the POS Head Office. There are two new log files for the POS 2.3 release: Apply BPM.log
(the log file from applying master data), and EodBPM.log
(the
log file from end of day procedure). The monitoring files are plain text files with information tailored for SAP CCMS agent processing. The CCMS agent searches for text patterns in the log files and reports the matching lines to the SAP Central Monitoring system. You can use the CCMS agent to monitor
the following log files:
Log files generated by the SAP TGM POS server during the Master Data Import
and End of Day Procedure
business processes
Logs files from failed POS TLog trickle attempts
Other log files on the POS server you wish to monitor
Note
You must install the CCMS agent at head office.
The following CCMS agent configuration files are relevant for use on the POS server:
Configuration File |
Description |
sapccmsr.ini |
The SAPCCMSR.INI configuration file is stored in the working directory of the CCMS agent. It primarily contains path specifications that are required for the operation of the CCMS agents |
logmonPOS_XPS_apply.ini |
Monitors Apply logs (ApplyBPM.log) from different stores/XPS (Xpress Servers) |
logmonPOS_XPS_eod.ini |
Monitors EOD logs (EodBPM.log) from different stores/XPS (Xpress Servers) |
logmonPOS_XPS_trickleFail.ini |
Monitors failed POS TLog trickle attempts (mmddRRSSSSS.trx.failed) from different stores |
To view the monitoring results, go to the central monitoring system (the SAP system where the CCMS agent is registered) and execute transaction RZ20
