Payment Engine provides functions that support end-to-end processing of cross-border payments, including the upload and management of referential data, handling of payment transaction charges, and fully automated straight-through processing (STP).

These functions support payment processing in the context of international payments. For more information about end-to-end processing of domestic payments, see End-to-End Payment Processing.

Payment Engine currently supports:

  • Conversion and processing of SWIFT MT103+ messages (Single Customer Credit Transfer)

  • Automated straight-through processing (STP)

  • Determination of correspondence banks by means of standard settlement instructions (SSI) provided by Accuity/CB.Net.

The following features support processing of cross-border payments.

Referential Data
  • Upload, validation, and management of referential data required for routing, validation, and clearing

  • Enrichment of data based on standard settlement instructions (SSI) to support routing of international payments

Processing of Charge Information
  • Management of payment transaction charges for customers and financial institutions in the corresponding service level agreements (SLA) and clearing agreements

  • Calculation and validation of payment transaction charges

  • Posting of payment transaction charges to an account management system

  • Posting of charges to a customer account

Straight-Through Processing
  • Enrichment and validation

    • Enrichment and validation checks to support cross-border payment processing

    • Calculation and validation of payment transaction charges

    • Determination of the payment transaction chain of a payment order

  • Route processing

    Routing of a payment item not only to the beneficiary but also to an intermediary institution in the transaction chain

    Note Note

    The route ruleset supports routing rules that specify the bank identifier code (BIC) of the next institution (receiver) in the transaction chain.

  • Clearing and settlement

    • Posting of charges to a customer account. The settled amount is adapted to the accrued charges.

    • Calculation of payment transaction charges based on charge condition groups in the clearing agreement
