Kerberos (BC-SEC)

Security (BC-SEC)

An authentication system developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The Kerberos system uses symmetric cryptography for providing its protection.

An authenticated user is issued a ticket from the Kerberos server that contains a unique key that is encrypted with the user's password. The ticket is then used to identify the user and the enclosed key is used to encrypt the data being transferred.
