Proposal Pool 
The proposal pool is a database in which source texts are stored together with their translations for short texts. Short texts are texts that do not exceed 255 characters. They are translated in the short text editor.
A separate proposal pool exists for each source and target language combination translated in the system. These proposal pools are initially empty. When you translate short texts in the short text editor, you can branch to the proposal pool and create proposals, which builds up the proposal pool. You can use the proposals that you create to reduce the manual translation volume when translating other short texts later.
Note
Once a translation and a proposal exist for a source text, the text line has the translation status translated. The system assigns the translation status modified to all lines whose target texts do not match valid proposals in the proposal pool. The status does not change to translated until you create the translation as a proposal in the proposal pool.
You only need to maintain the proposal pool if you intend to use its functions. If all you need to do is enter a translation, you can simply save it in the short text editor. If you do not maintain the proposal pool, you cannot reuse existing translations because you have no best proposals, and therefore no automatic distribution.
Integration
Short Text Editor
When you translate short texts in the short text editor, the system displays the best proposal for each source text line for which a proposal already exists. You can copy the best proposal to your translation line by double-clicking it.
When you translate source texts for which no proposals exist yet, you can branch to the proposal pool to create your translation as a proposal. The source text then has the status translated, and you can reuse the proposal whenever you have to translate the same source text again.

You can use transaction SLPP to access the proposal pool, to find out how certain short texts have been translated and to create or delete proposals.

Further Proposal Pool Interfaces
Automatic Distribution
If you perform an evaluation with automatic distribution, the system compares the source texts with the proposals in the proposal pool and assigns translations to the source texts, depending on the distribution parameters. The source texts whose translations do not match a valid proposal have the translation status modified. If the translation matches a valid proposal, the source text has the status translated. In this way, you can reduce the manual translation workload.
