Editing Aggregation LevelsLocate this document in the navigation structure

To plan data manually or to change it using planning functions, you need a planning-specific InfoProvider known as the aggregation level. You use the aggregation level to set the granularity of planning by only adding characteristics and key figures of the underlying InfoProvider for planning.

Use

You can create more than one aggregation level for an InfoProvider, thereby modeling various levels of planning and hierarchical structures for example. Note that aggregation levels cannot be nested.

Prerequisites

In Planning Modeler, you have selected (and possibly edited) an InfoProvider as the basis of the aggregation level. This InfoProvider must be either one that is suitable as the basis for planning or it must at least contain a suitable InfoProvider.

Procedure

In change mode, you can create or change an aggregation level.

Creating Aggregation Levels

The Version fields shows the object version for the aggregation level to be created; by default this is active version.

Note

Explanation of the object versions:

  • Active Version: 'A' version as the standard object version for new aggregation levels

  • Modified version: 'M' version of an aggregation level; level has been edited and saved but not yet activated.

  • Delivery version: D version

For more information, see BW Versioning Concept.

  1. Choose Create. The dialog box for creating planning levels appears.

  2. Enter the technical name and a description and select the required InfoProvider. Input help is provided. The Maintain Aggregation Layer screen appears. The left side of the screen contains an overview of all InfoObjects that belong to the InfoProvider.

  3. Choose the InfoObjects that to include in the aggregation level and drag and drop them one at a time or in groups into the right screen area.

    Note

For more information on the conditions that apply here, see Aggregation Level.

  4. To save the aggregation level definition, choose Save.

  5. To check the aggregation level definition for consistency, choose Check.

    Note

If you choose Check, the system tries to complete the required objects, such as higher-level characteristics of compound characteristics.

  6. If the definition is consistent, choose Activate. Once it has been activated, the aggregation level is ready for use.

Changing Aggregation Levels

  1. Enter the name of the aggregation level you want to edit and choose Edit. The Maintain Aggregation Layer screen appears. On the left of the screen you will find an overview of all InfoObjects that belong to the InfoProvide, while on the right you will find the InfoObjects used in the aggregation level.

  2. Change the definition to meet your requirements.

  3. Save, check and activate the changed definition.
