Resetting the Update StatusLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Occasionally an update that was set to Error is not completed successfully when it is reprocessed. In other words, the status is always active (green background status means started), and the update is neither fully processed nor prematurely terminated. (This problem only occurs when updates are repeated manually or when an update server is restarted when updates that have not been processed are set to automatical processing (status = auto).

There are two known causes of this problem:

  • A database error of the type “dirty read / dirty cluster” occurred because the update has no more locks for the data.

  • The target update server is not active at the time of processing.

Both of these problems are usually temporary. Use transaction SM51 and SM50 to check whether the update definately has not been processed. If the update has not been processed, reset it, and try again.

Procedure

To reset the status of an update record, select the relevant update requests, and choose Start of the navigation path Update Requests Next navigation step Reset Status End of the navigation path.

Result

The selected update records are reset to the status init and have to be processed manually.
