Provides comprehensive overview of processing time statistics for SAP Gateway.

For increased transparency of processing times for SAP Gateway, use the SAP Gateway Statistics transaction (/IWFND/STATS). It also provides an aggregated statistics view to further facilitate monitoring at all times and on all levels.

SAP Gateway Statistics provides the following information in a tabular overview. Times refer to processing times and are given in milliseconds. You can expand or collapse entries depending on the level of granularity you require.

  • Processing time in milliseconds (ms)

  • Parallelization overhead in ms
  • Sum of all application times in ms

  • Transaction ID
  • Root context ID
Further details are available:
  • Select a line and press Request URI to display the entire request URI.
  • Press Summarize for a complete statistics summary.
  • Select a line and press Performance Trace to monitor system performance at service call level. (Only available if the Performance Trace tool has been activated.)
  • Select a line and press Hub System Statistics to start SAP Workload: Single Statistical Records - Overview for the SAP Gateway hub system. Alternatively, you can start SAP Workload: Business Transaction Analysis (transaction /STAD) directly.
  • Select a line and press Backend System Statistics to start SAP Workload: Single Statistical Records - Overview for the SAP Business Suite backend system. Alternatively, you can start SAP Workload: Business Transaction Analysis (transaction /STAD) directly.
Re-Selecting Statistics

You can select a different set of statistics at any time by choosing Re-Select. In the Select Statistics dialog box, specify the statistics you want to view by entering SAP client, timeframe (date and time), user name, namespace, service name, service version, transaction ID, or root context ID.

Displaying Aggregated Statistics

Press Aggregated Statistics to display the SAP Gateway Statistics: Aggregated Statistics view.

You can display aggregated statistics for:
  • SAP client
  • Namespace
  • Service name
  • Version

To select a new set of aggregated statistics that are to be displayed, press Re-Select and specify the entries according to which you want an aggregated overview.

The aggregated statistics overview displays the following information:
  • Operation
  • Entity set or function
  • Batch operations
  • Count
  • Median processing time in ms
  • Average processing time in ms
  • Average hub overhead in ms
  • Average RFC overhead in ms
  • Average backend overhead in ms
  • Average application time in ms
  • Average non-Gateway time in ms (processing time not related to SAP Gateway framework)
  • Average parallelization overhead in ms
  • Average sum of all application times in ms
  • Average request size in bytes
  • Average response size in bytes
  • Median response size in bytes
Optimizing Statistics Settings in the Global Configuration Settings for SAP Gateway

Optimize the configuration settings for statistics in the global configuration settings for SAP Gateway. Choose Start of the navigation path GW Statistics Next navigation step Global Configuration End of the navigation path.

Depending on your performance requirements, enter the log level to be used, number of days for which data is to be stored, and activate or deactivate the statistics function:
  • Error log level to be used, either full or secure.
  • Number of days for which you want error log data to be stored.
  • Whether error log data is to be aggregated by service, user, and error.
  • Duration in hours for active trace
  • Number of days for which you want performance trace data to be stored.
  • Number of days for which you want payload trace data to be stored.
  • Whether statistics function is to be activated. Activate or deactivate statistics function here.
  • Number of days for which request statistics are to be stored.
  • Number of days for which aggregated statistics are to be stored.
