Service Development in Backend SystemLocate this document in the navigation structure

Describes the quick configuration steps required for setting up SAP Gateway in a central hub deployment scenario in which you want to develop services in the SAP Business Suite backend system.

The steps listed in the Quick Configuration section are intended as a quick starter guide. These steps do not replace the comprehensive configuration settings outlined in SAP Gateway Foundation Configuration Guide.

If you deploy SAP Gateway in a central hub deployment scenario and you want to develop OData services in an SAP Business Suite backend system, adhere to the following Quick Configuration guide. Activities that need to be performed in the SAP Gateway system have the prefix (Hub), while activities to be performed in the SAP Business Suite backend system have the prefix (Backend).

For SAP Fiori development, the central hub deployment scenario with backend service development applies.

  1. (Hub) Activate SAP Gateway

  2. (Hub) Create an SAP system alias called LOCAL.

  3. (Hub) Create SAP aliases that point to your backend systems.

  4. (Hub) Create an SAP Gateway system alias.

  5. (Backend) Create an SAP Gateway alias.

  6. (Hub) Activate node 'defaulthost/sap/opu'.

    Start transaction SICF and navigate to the node Start of the navigation path default_host Next navigation step sap Next navigation step opu End of the navigation path, 'defaulthost/sap/opu'. Right-click and choose Activate Service. Choose Refresh.

  7. (Backend) Develop and register a service.

    See Creating a Service Builder Project and Service Maintenance.

  8. (Hub) Publish a service in the hub.

  9. (Hub) Raise Error Log from Secure to Full.

    Start SAP Gateway: Error Log (transaction /IWFND/ERROR_LOG) and choose Start of the navigation path Error Log Next navigation step Global Configuration End of the navigation path. Set the Error Log Level to Full.

  10. (Backend) Raise Error Log from Secure to Full.

    Start SAP Gateway: Backend Error Log (transaction /IWBEP/ERROR_LOG) and choose Start of the navigation path Error Log Next navigation step Global Configuration End of the navigation path. Set the Error Log Level to Full.
