Performance Optimization with SAP HANALocate this document in the navigation structure

If you are using SAP HANA as your SAP BW database, you can perform many data-intensive functions from Analytic Manager, Data Warehousing Management and planning directly on SAP HANA in order to improve the performance of data loading processes and query and planning processes.

If you use the SAP HANA database to persist data from your BW system, you do not need SAP BW Accelerator to improve performance. You therefore do not need to create and fill indexes, thus simplifying both data modeling and system administration. The system automatically generates, updates and deletes the logical indexes (CalculationScenarios) for the InfoProviders. You only needs to create snapshot indexes for VirtualProviders and queries (like in SAP BW Accelerator). More information: Indexing BW Data in the SAP HANA Database.

For the purpose of CalculationScenarios, complex calculations are performed directly on the database for various OLAP functions. For more information, see Operations in SAP HANA / BWA.

The SAP HANA database allows you to make more efficient use of BW Workspaces. For more information, see BW Workspace.

By executing the data transfer process in the SAP HANA database, you can obtain better performance when processing the transformation of the data transfer process. More information: Transformation in the SAP HANA Database and Processing the Data Transfer Process in SAP HANA.

The SAP BW planning engine can either have read access to the SAP HANA database or can use internal routines in the SAP HANA database for in-memory optimized planning using the ABAP Planning Applications Kit. For more information, see Planning When Using the Database
