Use

SAP translation tools allow you to translate the majority of texts created in an SAP system.

For information on how to work as a translation administrator or translation coordinator in an SAP System, see Setting Up and Coordinating Translation (BC-DOC-TTL).

This documentation is structured as follows:

Quick Start for Translators A brief introduction to the most important functions that you use to translate in an SAP system.
Transaction SE63 Transaction SE63 enables you to translate short texts, long texts, forms, and various other types of text. You can access objects directly for translation. Alternatively, you can translate objects via a standard worklist if a translation administrator has set up the translation environment and then created worklists and statistics.
Translation Statistics for Translators If a translation administrator has set up the translation environment and then created worklists and statistics, you can display statistics to monitor the translation workload.

Standard Worklists

If a translation administrator has set up the translation environment and then created worklists and statistics, you can access objects for translation via a standard worklist.
Proposal Pool The proposal pool is the translation memory for short text objects that are translated in the short text editor.
Short Text Editor The short text editor enables you to translate short text objects with the aid of the proposal pool.
Long Text Editor The long text editor enables you to translate the majority of long text objects, such as F1 Help texts created in transaction SE61.
Translation Performance Monitor for Translators Explains how translators can use transaction TPMO, which is a tool for monitoring translation performance.
Prerequisites

If you want to work as a translator in an SAP system, the system administrator must assign a role to your system user that authorizes you to use transactions that belong to the translation environment. SAP delivers the role SAP_LXE_TRANSLATOR as a template. It authorizes you to access the following transactions in the translation environment:

Furthermore, the system administrator must define values for authorization object S_TRANSLAT in accordance with the instructions in Preparing a System for Translation.
