Creating PollsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

When you are planning a poll, you create a poll and define the question with its possible answers and other settings. This does not activate the poll: It still has the status Planned.

Procedure
  1. In your portal navigation, launch the Quick Poll Administration iView and choose New, enter the following data:
    • Name to be displayed in the list of polls in the Quick Poll Administration iView.
    • You specify whether or not the name is also displayed in the Quick Poll iView.
    • Name of the campaign that the poll is assigned to. You cannot change campaigns after you have saved them.
    • Type. There are two options here:
      • Poll: You define the possible questions and the layout for the depiction of results.
      • Rating: You always link a rating with a document. A link to the document in question is always displayed in the quick poll iView. You define a question but no answers. In the Quick Poll iView, a scale appears as defined in the configuration of Knowledge Management.
  2. On the General tab page, enter the following data:
    • Question to be displayed in the Quick Poll iView
    • Possible answers that the participants can choose from. By default, you create answers in a text area (one answer per line). Choose Generate Table if you want to create answers in a table using an input template.
    • Storage location of the document that you want to use to carry out the poll. In the Quick Poll iView, a link is displayed that the portal user can use to display the document directly.
    • Specify when the poll results are displayed in the Quick Poll iView (always, after votes have been cast, or when the quick poll has been closed).
  3. On the Image tab page, enter the following data:
    • Storage location of the image to be displayed with the poll. The image needs to be stored in a KM repository.
    • Image width and image height: If you leave these fields empty, the image is displayed in its original size.
    • The position of the image in relation to the question
  4. On the Layout tab page, you define the layout in which participants answer the question.

Single selection means that participants can only give one answer (one radio button or dropdown list option). Multiple selection means that radio buttons are displayed.

You can define the number and sort order of the columns for radio buttons and checkboxes.

  5. On the Results Display tab page, you choose the diagram type for displaying the results of the poll (bar chart, pie chart, two-dimensional or three-dimensional).
  6. On the Participants tab page, you can restrict participation in a poll to particular users, groups, or roles.
  7. On the Schedule tab page, you can define the following:
    • A time at which the system starts and ends a poll.
    • A time at which the system stores the poll results as statistics. This deletes all user-specific data. Before housekeeping takes place, each user can see how he or she has voted in the Quick Poll iView. After housekeeping has taken place, this information is no longer available. Only the total number of votes for each answer remains in the system.
  8. On the Comments tab page, you can create notes on a poll. These notes are for documentation purposes. They are not analyzed by the system.
