Logging in the ICM and SAP Web DispatcherLocate this document in the navigation structure

To get an overview of the functions and workload on the ICM or Web Dispatcher, an access log can be created in inbound and outbound requests can be logged. You can use external analysis programs to analyze the log file. Inbound and outbound logging must be set up independently of one another. The same log file cannot be configured for both inbound and outbound requests. Logging for the ICM or SAP Web Dispatcher is configured in the two following profile parameters:

  • icm/HTTP/logging_<xx>
  • icm/HTTP/logging_Client_<xx>
Caution Since the log handler cannot access the log file at the same time, it represents a bottleneck. It is therefore not activated by default.

A logging handler implements logging in the ICM and SAP Web Dispatcher. This handler is a subhandler of the HTTP handler. The logging handler records inbound and outbound requests and compiles statistics of the HTTP requests. The logging implementation procedure corresponds to the Apache Web Server mod_log_config module.

Logging information can be displayed in the ICM monitor (transaction SMICM). Follow path: Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step HTTP Plug-In Next navigation step Server Logs End of the navigation path or Client Logs.
