Creating Search and Analysis ModelsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

In a search and analysis model, you define the properties that a data source needs in order to be used in analysis and search scenarios. The search and analysis model represents a business entity of segments that are modeled using nodes. The nodes are created by importing a data source, a BW BW DataSource for example, into the model, and can be connected with other nodes using relations (in the form of compositions in a model or in the form of cross-model associations) that define foreign key relationships. For use in analysis scenarios (operational data provisioning), analytic properties are added to a node in the model, thus defining an operational data provider.

Search and analysis models are created in Modeling for Search and Analysis.

The instance of a search and analysis model is the associated connector. With the connectors that you create for search and analysis models, the data for search and analysis is indexed. Administration of connectors and indexing for the search and analysis models are performed in the Administration Cockpit.

Procedure

To allow search or analysis scenarios for data sources in your application, which there are no SAP search and analysis models for, proceed as follows:

  1. Create a search and analysis model.

  2. To generate an instance for the search and analysis model, create a connector.
