Hiding User Photographs in the User Details iView

If no user photograph has been uploaded to the User Details iView, the system displays only a placeholder for the photograph. If you do not plan to display user photographs in your company, you can hide the photograph placeholder. To do this, you require a new User Details iView that you have configured accordingly.

To make a User Details iView without photograph available in the portal, proceed as follows:

1. Create a new User Details iView and switch off the display of photographs:
   1. Create a new iView by copying the existing People Details iView using the Copy and Paste actions available in the Portal Catalog context menu. For more information, see Copying an Object or Folder (Copy / Paste) .
   2. From the context menu of the new People Details iView, choose Open   → Properties. To show all of the properties defined for the object, choose All in the row below the link bar.
   3. To activate the editor - to allow you to edit properties and attributes - choose Modify Properties at the top right.
   4. Set the Show Photo in Users Detail Dialog option to false.
   5. Save the properties for the iView.
2. Prepare the iView for use in URLs.
   1. In the portal catalog, click the name of the newly-created User Details iView. (In the quick info area, the iView ID appears).
   2. Copy the complete iView ID from the quick info area to any text editor.
   3. In the ID, replace the characters ":" and "/" as follows:: = !3a/ = !2fFor example:You change the ID pcd:portal_content/new_iViews/userDetailsWOPhoto to pcd!3aportal_content!2fnew_iViews!2fuserDetailsWOPhoto
3. Assign the iView ID to the link to the User Details iView.
   1. Choose System Administration → System Configuration → Collaboration → Properties → Link Commands.
   2. Highlight the peopleDetailsLink command and choose Edit.
   3. Copy the prepared ID from your text editor to the reference field.Warning: In the reference field, enter portal: in front of the ID, for example portal:pcd!3aportal_content!2fnew_iViews!2fuserDetailsWOPhoto.Make sure that you do not change the capitalization within the ID.
   4. Choose OK.

In the portal, the new User Details iView without photograph appears.
