Configuring the Search for Rooms

By default, the search for rooms, for example, in the room directory, in the room list, in room administration, or in the room relations manager, is performed using the SAP search engine Search and Classification (TREX). If you deactivate the TREX search for rooms, the system switches automatically to the Content Management search function (CM search.

Configure the TREX Search for Rooms

1. Choose System Administration → System Configuration → Knowledge Management → Collaboration → Room Search Properties → Room Search Properties.
2. Display the advanced options.
3. Launch the roomsearch configuration object for editing.
4. Configure the following properties.

   Property	Description
   Use Trex	The property controls the use of TREX for the search for rooms. It is activated by default. During each system start and at defined intervals (see the Index check interval property), the system checks whether the search index for the /rooms CM folder exists, if necessary, creates the search index, and enters its ID in the configuration of the roomsearch object. Note If the system cannot create a search index, the system deactivates the Use Trex option and switches to the CM search. To use the CM search for rooms, deactivate this property.
   Flush retries at room creation	Maximum waiting time for the application until the search index is updated when a room is created. Default value: 5 (seconds) Caution The waiting time increases time required for the process. Therefore, you should not set this value higher than necessary.
   Flush retries at room modification	Maximum waiting time until the search index is updated when a room is changed. Default value: 3 (seconds) Caution The waiting time increases time required for the process. Therefore, you should not set this value higher than necessary.
   Index check interval	Duration of the index check interval. Default value: 60 (minutes) The value entered has the following effects: Value > 0 When the check interval expires, the system checks whether the search index for the /rooms folder exists. If the search index does not exist, the system tries to create it again. If this attempt fails, the system switches to the CM search. Value = 0 The index check does not take place. Therefore, the system does not automatically switch to the CM search in the event of errors. The system issues an error message.

5. Confirm this change.

1. To check whether the search index is active, choose System Administration → System Configuration → Knowledge Management → Index Administration ( → Related Topics) → Indexing Monitor.
   Note

   To ensure that the search results are up-to-date, you should check the search index regularly. If necessary, you can reindex the search index.

   Caution

   If you delete the index, the room search using TREX is temporarily unavailable. Once the next index check interval is completed, the system tries to create a new index. If this attempt fails, the system switches to the CM search. In the event of problems, you must first solve the problem and then reactivate the Use Trex option as described above.

Switch From the TREX Search To the CM Search

Each search function handles scrolling in the list of rooms in different ways. To make sure that users can scroll through all rooms after switching from one search function to the other, you should change the corresponding collection list renderer. Proceed as follows:

1. In the portal, choose: System Administration → System Configuration → Knowledge Management → Content Management → User Interface → Settings → Collection Renderer Settings → Collection List Renderer Settings.
2. Launch each of the renderers listed below for editing and change the Components property:If the TREX search is deactivated, you delete the this,RoomPager(alignCenter) value.If the TREX search is activated, you enter the this,RoomPager(alignCenter) value.
