Determining a Change to a ProfileLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

If a profile was changed, it is saved as a separate version in the database. The old versions of the profile are not lost and can be used again at any time by copying them. Only when changes are activated is the the new version saved at operating system level too. The latest version of a profile in the database can be compared with the active version at operating system level.

Procedure

  1. Open transaction RZ10 (edit profiles).
  2. Specify the name and the latest version of the profile.
  3. Follow the menu path below to compare the newest profile in the database with the active profile at operating system level: Start of the navigation path Profile Next navigation step Compare Next navigation step Profile in Database Next navigation step With Active Profile End of the navigation path

Results

For each changed profile parameter, a corresponding comment is stored in that same profile. If, for example, user BATCHMAN changes the number of update work processes in an instance profile from 0 to 1,.the following entry is made:

# old value: 0 changed by: BATCHMAN, 9.8.1995, 16:45:38
rdisp/wp_no_vb = 1

Using the versions of the profile and the associated modification comments, you should be able to trace the history of all changes. Manual changes made at operating system level can also be identified. The SAP system writes all differences in a log, and triggers an alert in the Alert Monitor.
