Cleaning Up DBA Logs and Tables with BR*ToolsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

Context

This BR*Tools function helps you to free disk space used by old DBA logs and protects your database against unnecessary growth of the DBA tables.

Procedure


  1. Start BRGUI or BRTOOLS.

  2. Choose Start of the navigation path Additional functions Next navigation step Clean up DBA logs and tables End of the navigation path.

  3. Set the required options:

    BRSPACE export dumps (expdump)

    -f cleanup -e|-expdump

    Oracle trace files (trace)

    -f cleanup -t|-trace

    Database logs in SDBAH and SDBAD (dblog)

    -f cleanup -d|-dblog

    XDB logs in DBA tables (xdblog)

    -f cleanup -x|-xdblog

    Check messages in DBMSGORA (checkmsg)

    -f cleanup -m|-checkmsg

    Confirmation mode (confirm)

    -c|-confirm

    Query mode (query)

    -q|-query

    Clean up selected logs only (limit)

    -f cleanup -l|-limit

    Extended output (output)

    -o|-output

    Message language (language)

    -l|-language

    BRCONNECT command line (command)

    This shows you the BRCONNECT -f cleanup command that is to be executed using the current settings.

  4. To start processing with the selected options, choose Continue.

  5. Check the results in the BRCONNECT logs.

    • The summary log conn<DBSID>.log displays the return code.

    • The detail log c<encoded timestamp>.cln displays the progress.
