When it creates a room, the system automatically creates the user group for the room, to which all room members are assigned. In order for you to be able to use rooms, the system configuration must allow the automatic creation of user groups.
In addition to its own database, the User Management Engine (UME) in the portal can use other storage systems. Many companies use the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to map and access user data.
Configuring the Storage Systems
To allow the use of rooms in the portal, the configuration of the storage systems for user data must meet the following prerequisites:
Storage System | Description | Prerequisites for Rooms |
---|---|---|
UME |
The system manages all user data for the portal in the UME.
|
Creating user groups in the UME is allowed. |
UME and LDAP |
The portal uses the HR master data stored in LDAP, but manages all newly created user data in the UME. Consequences:
|
LDAP is non-modifiable, but creating user groups is allowed in the UME. Caution
In the case of hierarchical LDAPs, which are structured analog to the organizational units, the IDs must remain the same when users are moved within the LDAP structure. See SAP Note 873302.
|
LDAP |
The system manages all user data for the portal in LDAP.
|
Note LDAP is modifiable.
Note
Note The system can only add users that are stored in LDAP to user groups. Administration users that are contained in the standard delivery of the portal do not have access to rooms in this case.
