Configuring the Use of Information in Rooms

Use

To be able to display or use additional information in the iViews in rooms and room parts, you link the iView properties with available parameters.

Tip

In order for the system to display the ID of a room in the room documents iView, you link the room-id parameter with the RoomId iView property

Parameter Types

The following types of parameters are available for linking to iViews:

Parameter Type	Description
System parameters	When creating a room or adding a room part to a room, the system automatically generates the system parameters for the room or room part. These parameters are displayed on the Assignments page for each template.
Extension parameters	These parameters are output parameters for extensions. You can link the output parameters with iView properties or use them as input parameters for other extensions. Tip As an output parameter, an extension returns the path to a newly-created folder for the room. You assign this parameter to an iView.
External parameters	You can add these parameters to every template manually. The system queries the corresponding input values when creating a room or adding a room part to a room.

System parameters

When creating a room or adding a room part to a room, the system automatically generates the system parameters for the room or room part. These parameters are displayed on the Assignments page for each template.

Extension parameters

These parameters are output parameters for extensions. You can link the output parameters with iView properties or use them as input parameters for other extensions.

Tip

As an output parameter, an extension returns the path to a newly-created folder for the room. You assign this parameter to an iView.

External parameters

You can add these parameters to every template manually. The system queries the corresponding input values when creating a room or adding a room part to a room.

Procedure

Optional: Create External Parameters

When creating a template, choose the External Parameter stepor when editing a template, choose the Parameters tab page.
Define the external parameters required.
- To create a parameter, enter its name and description and choose Add.
- To delete a parameter, choose Remove in its context menu.
  Note
  If an external parameter is linked to an iView property, you cannot delete it. In this case, launch the where-used list in the context menu of the external parameter, remove the specified links to the iView properties, and then delete the parameter.

Link Parameters in Templates with iView Properties

When creating a template, choose the Mappings stepor when editing a template, choose the Mappings tab page.

Choose the pages in the room one after another and link the iView properties displayed with the available parameters as required.

The link options for standard iViews are listed below. Extension parameters whose name is defined in the extension are specified in angle brackets.
