Maintaining UI TechnologiesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Before you can use the navigation targets defined in the modeler, you must work through the following activities for the connected back-end system:

  • Activate supported UI technologies

  • Define the sequence and thus the priority of the UI technologies

  • Specify the associated server connections

The UI technologies are used to display links for related actions that appear in the search results. If a related action is specified for more than one UI technology, the UI technology with the highest priority is used when the links in the search results is used.

The following UI technologies are available:

  • WebClient UI

  • SAP GUI for HTML

  • SAP GUI

  • Web Dynpro

Each of the UI technologies can be launched by an SAP NetWeaver Application Server or an SAP Enterprise Portal, for which you have to specify the associated server information.

Procedure
  1. Launch the administration cockpit and choose Start of the navigation path System Settings Next navigation step Maintain UI Technologies End of the navigation path.

  2. Perform one or more of the tasks listed below:

    • Activate the UI technologies

    • Define the order of the UI technologies

    • Enter server information for the back-end systems

  3. Choose Save to apply your settings.

Activate the UI technologies

To activate a UI technology for the back-end system, select the Active checkbox.

Note

Active entries appear at the top of the overview table. A UI technology that is not yet active is moved to the bottom of the list of active entries when you select the Active checkbox in the overview table. As soon as you deselect the checkbox, the entry is placed below the active entries.

Defining the Order of the UI Technologies

You can change the order of the UI technologies selected as active in the overview table. The prerequisite for this is that there are at least two active entries.

To move an entry higher up the overview table and thus to increase the priority of the entry, choose Increase Priority. Repeat this until the entry reaches the required position and corresponding priority.

To reduce the priority of an entry, choose Reduce Priority. Repeat this until the entry reaches the required position and corresponding priority.

Entering Server Information for the Back-End Systems

If you choose an entry that is selected as Active in the overview table, you can enter or change the associated server information. Depending on the type of UI technology, the system provide entry fields for SAP NetWeaver Application Server or SAP Enterprise Portal.
