Defining an Operational Data ProviderLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

In this step of the roadmap, you create the model's operational data provider (ODP).

The system displays the model's nodes in the hierarchical structure that you defined in the Node Relationships step. Associated nodes are not displayed.

Depending on the type of data, you can create various ODPs for various uses in a search and analysis model:

The master data ODP with ODP view data extraction provides the reference characteristic. All properties of the reference characteristic are derived from this ODP.

The field descriptions for this ODP are used in the query for the display attributes of the reference characterstic and the referencing characteristics. This means that the descriptions for the display attributes of all ODPs for this node are used, meaning the ODP with ODP view Data Extraction and all ODPs with ODP view View Projection.

In this ODP, you set the upper limit of the navigation attributes for all ODPs on this node.

For navigation attributes, the same descriptions are used as for display attributes, as long as you have not created any ODPs with ODP view Projection in which the descriptions of the fields or navigation attributes have been adjusted.

If the descriptions of the navigation attributes for the reference characteristic is different to the descriptions of the display attributes, create an ODP with ODP view Projection and adjust the descriptions.

To map referencing characteristics, you can create ODPs with ODP view projection.

In these ODPs, you adjust the descriptions of the fields in order to display the more specific semantics (sender cost center or receiver cost center for example, which both reference cost center).

Procedure

To define an ODP for a node, proceed as follows:

  1. Set the basic properties of the ODP.

  2. Edit the ODP's field list.
