Creating Precalculation ServersLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

To precalculate workbooks, you need BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel, which you should install on a server.

Procedure
  1. Install BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel.
    Note

    We recommend installing BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel on a server. You can also install it on a client PC.

    BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel is a separate component with its own installation. For more information, see SAP Note 877774.

    During installation, the following Windows service appears in the management console:BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel.

  2. Log on to the BW system on the PC where BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel is installed and navigate to Customizing (transaction SPRO): SAP Reference IMG → SAP NetWeaverSAP Business Warehouse → Settings for Reporting and Analysis → Settings for Information Broadcasting → Administrate Precalculation Server.
  3. Choose Create Precalculation Server.
  4. Enter the technical name of the server (max. 10 characters) and a description.

    The description is language-dependent and is displayed in BEx Broadcaster when you select a special precalculation server.

    The precalculation server - an RFC server from a technical viewpoint - is displayed in the list.

Result

The precalculation server is ready. Its status display is green.
