Finding Abbreviations for a Full Text in SLPPLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The Find Abbreviations tab in transaction SLPP enables you to display abbreviations for a full text in the proposal pool. Abbreviations are monolingual, which means they are always created for a full text in the same language, not for a combination of source and target languages. For example, a translator could create Bus. Trans. as an English abbreviation of the English system standard Business Transaction. You therefore specify just one language, not a combination of source and target languages, on the Find Abbreviations tab.

Prerequisites

Abbreviated translations in the short text editor have been defined as abbreviations in the proposal pool.

Procedure

Displaying Abbreviations for a Specific Full Text

To display the abbreviations for a specific full text in the proposal pool, proceed as follows:

  1. Call transaction SLPP and switch to the Find Abbreviations tab.

  2. Specify a language in the Language field. For example, if you want to find English abbreviations for an English full text, enter enUS in this field.

  3. Enter the full text whose abbreviations you want to display in the Full Text field.

  4. Choose Find Abbreviations for Full Text.

A dialog box appears listing the abbreviations assigned to the full text in the proposal pool.

Displaying Abbreviations after a Generic Search for Full Texts

To execute a generic search for full texts in the proposal pool and then display their abbreviations, proceed as follows:

  2. Specify a language in the Language field.

For example, if you want to find English abbreviations for an English full text, enter enUS in this field.

    • Insert an asterisk (*) in the search string. This asterisk is then replaced during the search by any number of characters.

    • Insert a plus sign (+) in the search string. The plus sign can only be replaced by a single character during the search.

  4. Choose Find Abbreviations for Full Text.

The results of your generic search are listed directly beneath the search string.

  5. Double-click a full text whose abbreviations you want to display.

A dialog box appears, listing all of the abbreviations assigned to the full text in the proposal pool.

  6. To return to the Find Abbreviations tab on the initial screen of transaction SLPP, choose Cancel.

    The Proposal Pool screen appears.

  7. If you want to display the abbreviations for another full text in the hit list, double-click the full text.

If you want to delete the hit list and start a new search, choose Back.
