Configuring Web Services in SOA Manager

You can use SOA Manager for the complete configuration of service providers and consumer proxies for a local system. The following task areas are described:

• Technical Configuration

  Initial setup of SOA Manager

• Semantic Addressing Using Identifiable Business Contexts (IBCs)

  Addressing is handled on the basis business application entities that are represented as Identifiable Business Contexts (IBCs).

• Configuring Service Providers and Consumers

  Configuration that is specific to each server or business scenario.

• Publishing Services

  Setting up the connection to the Services Registry, configuring publication rules, publishing service definitions.

• Accessing and Testing a Service

  Check that a service is functioning correctly and find the URL of the configured service.

• Logs and Traces

  Manage and configure logs and traces for Web service provider and consumer calls.

• Monitoring

  Check for errors in the message exchange between a service provider and a service consumer.

• You have Administrator authorization.

• In transaction SICF, you have activated the following nodes:

  • /sap/bc/srt (including sub nodes)

  • /sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/appl_soap_management

  You may have to activate the general Web Dynpro ICF services to ensure that the ABAP Web Dynpro runtime environment works. For more information, see Active Services in SICF.

• The service and proxy definitions that you want to configure are available as development objects in the back-end system.

• If you want to work with SOA Manager in a system landscape, you need to configure communication between ABAP systems.

To start SOA Manager:

• Use the transaction code SOAMANAGER.

  Alternatively; you can start SOA Manager in an Internet browser using the following link:

  http://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/appl_soap_management?sap-language=<logon language>

  The main screen is displayed, with tabs for the function groups. The main function groups are:

  Service Administration	Functionality to set up configuration to support business processes with Web services. This functionality is intended for business administrators who manage business processes across systems in a system landscape.
  Technical Administration	This functionality is intended for technical system administrators who set up connections between systems and who manage the security settings in a system landscape.
