Use

The concept Unified Connectivity(UCON) should combine the connectivity components of the ABAP server (RFC, HTTP services in ICF) in an administration framework with the following objective:

  • Increased security of communication, for example, by reducing the functions that can be seen and called externally

  • Simplified administration, for example, by analyzing the required RFC authorizations and creating different RFC user roles

  • Simple and consistent configuration

  • Support of additional functionality such as how the delivery of a related connectivity configuration for new applications.

Integration

To make it possible to integrate your RFC communication into the UCON component, SAP provides multiple tools that can be used to collect, analyze, and monitor the RFC functions that are currently in use.

Restrictions
  • In the current release at first only the RFC Basic scenario (security scenario) and the Role Builder scenario are supported.

  • HTTP, HTTPS, and SMTP scenarios are currently not supported.
