Changing and Activating Profile ParametersLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

Unlike dynamic profile parameters, static profile parameters cannot be changed during productive operation of an SAP system (default profile) or of an instanzce (instance profile). The new value of the profile parameter is not used until the SAP system or instance is restarted.

Procedure

  1. Call transaction RZ10 (Edit Profiles).
  2. In the Profile input field, enter the name of the profile file for which you want to change the static profile parameters.
  3. Under Edit Profile, select one of the following two radio buttons:
    • Basic Maintenance: In basic maintenance, you can display or change general data about the profile and profile parameters for buffer sizes, the number of work processes, and swap requirements.
    • Extended Maintenance:In Extended Maintenance, the individual parameter values for the profile are displayed. Here you can create, change, or delete the profile parameters in a profile.
      Tip Detailed documentation is available for every profile parameter in the profile. To display the documentation, place the cursor on the parameter and press F1.
    Usually we recommend you choose Extended Maintenance.
  4. The changes you made are not written to the database until you apply them.
    • Basic Maintenance / Extended Maintenance:Save your entries to the database by choosing Apply.
