Importing Individual Profile FilesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

During an initial installation of an SAP system, an upgrade to a new SAP release, or the addition of a new application server instance, the system automatically generates or updates the profile files at operating system level. However, the installation program cannot store profiles directly in the database. Since you are working with profile data from the SAP database in the profile maintenance, you need to ensure that this data matches the corresponding active profile files in the file systems of the application server instances.

Note Use this function if you have installed a new application server instance, or you have changed a profile file at operating system level.

Procedure

  1. Call the profile maintenance (transaction RZ10).
  2. Enter the profile name in the input field. The version number is assigned automatically.
The profile type and profile status is now displayed for your information.
  3. Choose Create.
  4. Maintain the administration data: Short description, name of the file, reference server, and profile type, and confirm your input by choosing Apply.
This takes you back to the initial screen of the profile maintenance (transaction RZ10).
  5. Choose Import.
The Import Profile dialog box is opened.
  6. In the dialog box enter the name of the operating system file into which you want to import the profile.
With the F4 key you can display all the profile files in the global profile directory.
The system checks the imported profile for errors.

Next Steps

You can now edit the profile, import it into the database, and decide whether you want to activate it.
