Terminology and Glossary in SAPterm (BC-DOC-TER)
This documentation describes how to find, create, and maintain terminology entries in SAPterm (transaction STERM) and how these term concepts, and their corresponding glossary entries, can then be translated into other languages.
Terminology helps in many ways, both inside and outside an organization, by making technical communication in a complex world possible and by standardizing terminology for effective communication between employees, customers, and partners.
Many additional benefits of terminology work are interesting to the following specific groups:

Management: Standardized terminology supports the integration of merged companies, forms the foundation of corporate language, and speeds up training for new employees.

Financial Controlling: Terminology reduces translation costs, the number of service calls, and can be used to automate quality checks.

Product Development: Using standard terminology ensures compliance with national and international standards and norms in a given industry, ensures documents written in different locations all conform with each other, and shortens the discussion time by providing a common vocabulary.
Modern terminology management uses databases in order to achieve these goals and so SAP developed the SAPterm terminology database on the SAP NetWeaver platform for its own use. SAPterm is also available to SAP customers using SAP NetWeaver - not only can customers look up the terminology that SAP has released with the tool, but they can also configure the database for managing their own terminology.
