Use

Technical documentation for an object can only be maintained directly in the ABAP Development Workbench. To do this, call the appropriate maintenance transaction for the system object. For example, in the case of domains, this is the Dictionary and in the case of function modules, this is the function library.

In addition, there is also a separate maintenance transaction that can be found under Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step ABAP Workbench Utilities Documentation End of the navigation path .

You can use this maintenance transaction to maintain all document classes of type "User documentation".

You use the documentation maintenance transaction to edit and administer documents. SAPscript is used as the editor. You can either edit objects individually or collect them in a worklist subject to specific criteria.

There are various different ways of entering and maintaining documentation:

With display help texts via the F1 key
With the documentation maintenance transaction

Authorizations

An authorization check is made.

If you are authorized for raw versions, you will be able to create and edit raw versions of documents throughout the system.

The authorization for active versions applies to a particular development class or set of development classes. You are authorized to edit raw and active versions of all modules in the assigned development classes.

You can display the authorization values you have been assigned in the initial screen of the maintenance transaction by selecting Start of the navigation path Utilities Next navigation step Authorizations End of the navigation path .
