Features

This screen displays wait counters provided by Microsoft SQL Server with the Data Management View sys.dm_os_wait_stats. SAP uses wait counters to review system performance. For more information about wait statistics and SAP system performance, see SAP Note 987961 Information published on SAP site.

For more information about the wait types that exist, see the Microsoft SQL Server Books Online.

As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP2 SP15 this display was changed from a simple list of values from sys.dm_os_wait_stats to a list of wait categories.

The new display consists of two separate screens selected with a tab control.

  • Categories

This screen shows the list of wait categories ordered by the average time per request in descending order. By default the categories Idle, Unknown, Other and User Waits are excluded from the selection. If you check the checkbox View all wait categories, then these categories are included as well. Below the list of categories, the details of the selected category are shown. You can select multiple categories and the button Details for selected rows then displays all the detail records for the selected categories on the bottom list.

  • Individual Wait Statistics

This screen shows the list of all individual categories in a similar way to the older simpler list. An additional field shows which category each individual wait type belongs to.
